Sensitivity to temperature or pain while chewing can be a sign of tooth decay. After an X-Ray is taken to determine where the decay is located on the tooth, the decay is removed from the tooth and restored with either amalgam or composite filling. At Cook Family Dentistry, we offer both amalgam (silver) and composite (tooth colored) restorations. Amalgam fillings are primarily used on the back teeth where they are not seen while composite fillings are primarily used in the “smile zone”.
The dentist will examine each patient and discuss the best option and their recommendations for what type of restoration should be used for each tooth.
